Numeos is made by one person. Write to
awhaire@gmail.com
about anything at all: a bug, a puzzle whose answer looks wrong, a question
about your account, or something someone has typed that should not be there.
Every message is read by a human, and reports about names are read first.
Reporting a name on the leaderboard
Open Leaderboard, find the row, and tap the ⋯
button at the end of it. Two choices appear: Report name,
which sends the name for review, and Block. Reporting is
private: the person is not told who reported them, and the name is recorded
as it stood at that moment, so renaming afterwards does not erase the
evidence.
Reporting a group name
Open the group from Groups and tap
Report this group at the bottom of its screen. A group name
is seen by every member, which is why it is reportable by every member.
Reporting or blocking a chat message
In the lobby before a match, tap any message from another member and it
offers its own controls: Report sends us the message exactly
as it appeared (chat is never stored, so your report is the only copy that
exists) and Block hides that member's messages immediately
and keeps that account off your leaderboard afterwards. Both are private:
nobody is told who reported or blocked them.
Blocking someone
Same place as reporting a name: Leaderboard →
⋯ → Block. That account disappears from your
leaderboard immediately and stays gone. A block belongs to your account alone
and changes nothing for anybody else, so nobody is told they have been
blocked.
A group is a different relationship, because you chose to join it. The way out
of one is Leave group on the group's own screen; you stop
seeing it, and it stops seeing you.
If you cannot reach either of those
Both controls need you to be signed in, and the leaderboard only lists people
who have chosen a display name. If what you want to report is not in front of
you, use Profile → Report something, which
opens an email to the address above, or write to it directly. Tell us what you
saw and roughly where, and that is enough.
What happens to a report
Reports are read at least once a day. A display name or a group name that
breaks the rules is removed within 24 hours of the report arriving, and an
account that keeps doing it loses the ability to appear on the leaderboard.
Names are also checked against a filter the moment they are set, so the
obvious cases never reach anyone; the filter is not perfect, which is what
reporting is for.
Numeos has no photo or file sharing, and no messaging outside one room: the
ten-minute lobby before a group's match. A display name, a group name and a
lobby message are the three things one person can put in front of another,
and each can be reported from where it appears.
Your account and your data
The app works without an account. Signing in with Apple is optional and
adds the leaderboard and groups.
Profile → Account →
Delete account, tapped twice to confirm, removes your
account and its data immediately. There is no waiting period and no email
to confirm.
Signing out leaves your progress on the phone. Deleting the app removes
the copy on the phone and leaves the account alone.
What is stored, and where, is set out in the
privacy policy.
The tutor and the subscription
The tutor is on the solution sheet: tap a card, then the ⓘ, then
Ask AI. It explains the steps in plainer words and then
answers whatever you ask about that puzzle. It needs Apple Intelligence: an
iPhone 15 Pro or later on iOS 26, with Apple Intelligence switched on in
Settings. On any other phone the sheet says so and offers nothing.
It is a monthly subscription, sold and billed by Apple. The price and the
term are on the sheet before you subscribe.
Subscribed on another phone? Tap
Restore purchases on the sheet, or
Profile → Tutor, signed into the same
Apple Account.
Cancelling. Settings → Apple Account → Subscriptions, or
Profile → Tutor → Manage. The tutor keeps
working to the end of the month you paid for. Deleting your Numeos
account does not cancel it; the subscription belongs to your Apple
Account.
The tutor got it wrong. It can. It re-tells the steps on
the card, on your phone, and those steps are the answer. Tap
Another way for a different telling, ask it what you did
not follow, and send us the card if a step itself looks wrong.
Things that come up
Progress missing on a new phone. Sign in with the same
Apple ID. Progress is carried by the account, not by the device, and the
two copies are merged rather than one overwriting the other.
A name you want is refused. Display names are unique, two
to eighteen characters, and a short list is reserved to stop
impersonation. Try a variant.
A group is full. Thirty people is the limit, and it is
enforced by the server rather than by the app.
You missed a fixture. Fixtures are live and cannot be
played late; that one scores zero and the season carries on. When they
happen is up to whoever started the group; the group screen shows the
next one, in your own time zone.
An answer looks wrong. Send it: the puzzle, the answer
shown, and what you expected. Puzzles are generated rather than stored, so
a fault is usually a fault in a whole family of them and worth knowing
about.
The feed ran out, or is empty. A feed pinned to one
level (Profile → Feed difficulty) shows only the day's cards at that level,
so it is shorter than Mixed and can end for the day; and a level none of
your topics reaches is empty. Set it back to Mixed, or follow more topics.
